Dear YHS Band Families,
I wanted to say hello to new and returning BandAides families as we
ease into our summer and prepare for the 2008-2009 band season. I am the new
president of the York Falcon BandAides and I wanted to take this opportunity to
make sure that everyone is aware of communications that have gone home and of
upcoming events.
First of all, the band newsletter has been mailed and contains
important dates for rehearsals and band camp. As you are aware (or have heard,
if you are a new band member) the first challenge of the 2008-2009 school year
is marching band season. Here's a recap:

TBA --BAND CAMP (the second week) runs from 3-9pm
for August 25th through August 28th Attendance is
required by all band members for band camp --There is band practice
on the first day of school, September 2nd, from 6-9 pm and
additional after school rehearsals will be established by Mr. Purvis at the end
of band camp. These dates can all be found in the York Falcon Band newsletter
that was recently mailed home and also on the website, www.falconbandaides.com. If you have not received a
newsletter please let me know and we will check our records for contact
information.
Secondly, Bingo is our primary fundraiser and requires volunteers to man
the sessions year-round. Summer is a good opportunity for students to earn
"points" by working bingo to defray the expenses for travel throughout the band
season. Questions about bingo can be directed to Lee Noble, our bingo manager,
at .
Third, I would like to thank Lee Noble for his time and talents
as the 2007-2008 president of the BandAides. His are big shoes to fill and I am
sure that I will rely on his expertise as we move into this exciting new school
year.
I hope that everyone has a restful summer. I look forward to seeing
everyone when we return for 2008-2009!
